Formula and method
Selling price = (product cost + fixed fee) ÷ (1 − fee rate − target margin). Enter rates as percentages; the calculation converts them to decimals. Price is rounded up to the next cent.
Worked example
A cost of 20, a fixed fee of 0.30, a 3% selling fee and a 30% target margin require a price of 30.30 after rounding up. The fee is 1.209 and profit is 9.091 before display rounding. The resulting margin is just over 30%.
Why adding the fee to cost is wrong
A percentage selling fee depends on the final selling price, not the product cost. Adding 3% to a cost of 20 only adds 0.60, but the fee on a selling price of 30 is 0.90. Solving the formula works backward from the margin you want and includes the fee on that final price.
Choose a realistic target
The target margin is the share of the selling price left after the listed costs. It is not a markup percentage, and it is not necessarily net business profit. Include fulfilment and packaging in product cost. Add business overhead separately when deciding whether the price supports your business.
Where this simplified fee model applies
The percentage fee is applied to the entered selling price only. Some marketplaces also charge fees on shipping or tax, use tiered rates, or charge different rates for different payment methods. Check your own provider and adjust your inputs; these defaults are illustrations, not a current provider fee schedule.

Frequently asked questions
Why must fees plus margin be below 100%?
The price has to leave something to cover product costs and the fixed fee. If those two percentages consume all revenue, there is no positive finite price that covers positive costs.
Why round upward?
Rounding to the nearest cent could put the achieved margin just below your target. This tool rounds the price up, then recalculates fees and actual margin from that rounded price.
Does changing currency convert prices?
No. Currency changes the display only. Enter all amounts in one currency.
